Lenzing Ecovero: Leading in Environmental Responsibility
Hi there, I'm Diane Kennedy, Canadian fashion designer and conscious consumer. It's long been my mission to design with fabrics that are sustainable and eco-friendly as much as possible. Almost no fabric gets a perfect rating but there are better choices for the planet. In my search to find beautiful new printed fabrics for you, I discovered a Canadian supplier of Lenzing Ecovero fabrics. You may know that it's been tricky for us to find prints in Bamboo, so I was excited to find these specialty, eco friendly prints. Fibers with a difference
In a world of finite, natural resources, environmental sustainability requires that we use only the resources we need and utilize them with maximum efficiency. Lenzing Ecovero are eco-responsible viscose fibers, helping to build a cleaner world by taking less from the environment, maximizing resources efficiently, and minimizing waste in the production process to achieve excellent sustainability figures. The responsible production of Lenzing fibers uses at least 50% less water and admits at least 50% less CO2 compared to generic viscose fibers, thereby saving precious resources for future generations.
Made from wood pulp, Lenzing demonstrates that it's wood sourcing complies with high standards through verification. More than 99% of wood and dissolving wood pulp used by the Lenzing group is either certified to the standards of the forest stewardship council (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) or inspected in line with these standards. Furthermore, being cellulosic, Lenzing Ecovero fibers are biodegradable in soil, freshwater and marine environments, as well as compostable in home applications and industrial facilities
