What to Wear for a Weekend Getaway at Whistler

Whistler isn't just for winter! This world-class ski resort, famous for the 2010 Olympics, is also amazing in summer. It's a short drive from my home near Vancouver B.C., up the beautiful Sea to Sky highway. This scenic route offers dramatic coastal views, rugged mountains, and loads of outdoor activities. You'll find stunning views of Howe Sound, waterfalls, lakes, and alpine forests along the way!

Our adventure begins with a visit to the breathtaking Shannon Falls, just a quick five-minute walk from the highway. Even in the dry season, it's a sight to behold! I wore my Farrah dress in Coral. It's so lightweight, comfy and I felt especially cute in it.

Next stop was Nairn Falls, just 20 minutes past Whistler! The hike was easy, taking about half an hour along a path with stunning aqua water below. Despite the 30° weather, the cool forest provided some relief, but the final climb over sunbaked granite to the falls was the hottest. On the way back, we climbed down to the creek to enjoy the refreshing water.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the cozy Pinnacle hotel with a stunning view of Whistler / Blackcomb Mountain from our room.

Whistler is very casual and outdoorsy. While some folks dress up for dinner, most people stick to shorts and sporty outfits all day in the summer. My Greta Garden Tunic was fun to wear yet still casual enough to fit the vibe. If bare knees aren't your thing you could easily add a pair of Rejuvenate leggings or a capri length pant like the Escape Crop to this outfit.

We had a fantastic full day at Whistler. We took the gondola up to the top of the mountain and enjoyed stunning views of the coastal mountains and glacier lakes. With a day pass, we explored the mountain and loved the Peak to Peak gondola ride from Blackcomb Mountain to Whistler Mountain. It was an unforgettable experience!

My Farrah dress in Ink was a perfect choice, until it wasn't....

The highlight of the trip was taking yet another gondola to the very peak of the mountain and crossing the Cloudbreaker Skybridge at the top.  It was breathtakingly scary but the 360 degree view was so worth it! I took about 10 steps onto the bridge when the wind hit, sending my dress flying up! Major wardrobe malfunction! So, if you go, definitely avoid wearing a dress!

Vacations always feel too short, so we squeezed in more adventure on the way home. We visited another waterfall and hiked one of my favorite trails in Whistler, 'The Train Wreck.' It's an easy hike through an Alpine forest, past a turquoise river, and over a suspension bridge to the colourful wreck site. Don't worry, no one was hurt in the wreck, making it a fun and safe way to spend an hour or so!

I wore my Black Clever Cami over a pair of my own shorts.

I hope you get to experience Whistler one day! It's an amazing place!
