Which Body Shape are YOU?

Which Body Shape are YOU?

Most women think they already know their body shape. Maybe someone told you what body shape they think you are and you accepted it. Now we are going to find out for sure. Trust us, it's all about proportions.

Let's measure up! Our bodies can change over time with hormonal fluctuations, loss of height, and weight gain. Measure your shoulders, bust, waist and hips with a soft tape measure. Remember, these are just numbers, we are measuring our body parts, not our personal worth.

A Pear-shaped body has shoulders that are narrower than your hips with a curvy, rounded bottom, voluptuous hips and thighs. You tend to have slender arms compared to your legs. While your waist is usually narrower than your hips, that can change with weight loss or gain, menopause and age. Your shoulder to hip measurement is what determines the Pear.

As an Apple-shaped woman, your tummy is your largest measurement. Your shoulders, hips and bust are usually similar in measurement. Your waist is a little wider from the front like an apple. The Apple has a full midsection, a flatter bottom and can have shapely calves as well. Usually an Apple body has great legs!

As an Inverted Triangle Body Shape your shoulders are wider than your waist and hips. Your waist is not well-defined, and you have a strong shoulder line that creates a V shape silhouette. You probably wear a larger sized top and a smaller size on the bottom. The best assets of a inverted triangle shape are your natural muscle tone and shapely limbs.

As a Rectangle body, the measurements at the waist, hip, and shoulder are very similar. This is the least curvy body shape and benefits from clothing that adds contours. Your bust measurement is very close to your waist measurement. Your proportions are similar and when you gain weight, you gain it evenly. Your bottom tends to be flat, and your bust size is typically small to medium and some of you may wish for more curves. You usually wear the same size top and bottom.

The least common body shape is the Hourglass figure. This is where your hips and shoulders are balanced with a very defined waist and at least 25% smaller than your hips and bust/shoulder measurement. You are blessed with curves galore! Your hips and shoulder have a softer look. When you gain weight it shows up first in the bust, hips, seat, and thighs, but you can also gain in the midsection, especially after childbirth and menopause

The bottom line is that there’s no such thing as an “ideal” body shape. Knowing how to dress for your body shape can make a difference in how you present yourself and the stylish confidence you project. Whichever body shape you have, just remember: the most important thing is that you’re happy and healthy.
